Balding Brothers began in 1999, when Ian and Timothy Balding decided to combine their talents in the renovation of investment properties in Wilmington. It was the perfect pursuit for two skilled craftsmen who take pride in the beauty and value they are able to create with their complementary skills.

Timothy Balding had spent eight years as a traditionally trained craftsman in the custom cabinetry and yacht building industries. He apprenticed in some of the more exclusive markets in the United States, and his entrepreneurial passions eventually led him to strike out on his own with Balding Brothers.

Already an entrepreneur, Ian Balding had built a successful landscape design and installation company in New Jersey and had also worked in the construction industry. With the opportunity to work with his brother and begin a new challenge, he sold the landscaping business and moved to Wilmington to begin Balding Brothers.

As they took on their first couple of investment property renovations, each continued to work in their crafts. Tim was lead carpenter for a local boat building firm and Ian worked as a construction foreman. The first two projects were very successful and satisfying, so each decided to devote themselves full-time to the new renovation company.

The renovation success continued, and as more and more people saw their work, Tim and Ian realized that there was tremendous demand for the custom cabinetry and casework they were doing. They decided to meet that demand by opening Balding Brothers Cabinets.

Tim and Ian were recently joined by their youngest brother Nick in July of 2006. A graduate of the Sellenger School of Business and Management at Loyola College in Maryland, Nick brings his business acumen to the trio.

Balding Brothers Cabinets has enjoyed great success and has quickly earned a reputation for providing beautifully-designed, high-quality custom cabinets, built to spec and delivered on time.
